Nansemond-Suffolk Academy softball team shut out Greenbrier Christian Academy on the road Thursday afternoon.
The Lady Saints put up an impressive performance Thursday with the 10-0 victory. After three innings of no scores from either team, the Lady Saints busted open the game. They put up five runs in two innings to take a 10-0 lead and win the game.
In the fifth inning, Gabby Infranco and Addy Greene both hit home runs. Dani Goodman had a three-run triple to help start the Lady Saints scoring.
Emerson Puzey had pitching duties and was credited for the shutout. She allowed only one hit.
“I feel like this win was a complete team effort,” Puzey said. “Everyone contributed to the success of the game. In the fourth inning, we started picking up our pace, and we didn’t look back.”
“Our team played their hearts out, and we played an incredible all-around game,” Lady Saints Madi Wilson said.
The Lady Saints continue to make a run in their pursuit of a state championship. NSA coach Brittany Thornburg was excited about the performance her team put on display.
“This win feels amazing,” Thornburg said. “I told these girls very early in the season if we played to our potential, we would be unstoppable. We have a great group of girls, and they all believe in themselves and in each other.”
NSA will play Hampton Roads Academy on the road at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.
