Village Inn coming to Suffolk

Suffolk residents will have a new dining option later this year in the Hampton Roads Crossing neighborhood.
Breakfast One LLC has purchased one acre of property in Hampton Roads Crossing on University Boulevard in Suffolk. The property will be used to develop a new Village Inn franchise restaurant south of the existing Zaxby’s restaurant.
Construction is expected to break ground mid-March, and the restaurant is expected to be open for business this August.
Restaurateur John Georghiou will co-own the Suffolk franchise with his son, Bill Georghiou, who has more than a decade of experience in restaurant ownership. His father has owned nine in the past 41 years, including the Village Inn Chesapeake franchise.
“We run a good restaurant,” John Georghiou said. “We’ve been in the business a long time. Hopefully we’ll make a good impression.”
The Village Inn will serve breakfast all day with an extensive selection of skillets, omelets, French toast and other breakfast staples. The menu will also include lunch and dinner options such as sandwiches and pot pies.
John Georghiou said that one of the restaurant’s claims to fame will be the dessert options.
“We have terrific pies,” John Georghiou said. “During the holidays, we sell a tremendous number of pies.”
The restaurant will be able to seat roughly 160-170 people when its doors open later this year, with a staff of more than 60 employees. John Georghiou said the Hampton Roads Crossing site was chosen for the draw of the other retail options being developed nearby, as well as the appealing fit in the community.
“We thought that the clientele was a nice match in Suffolk,” he said. “We think it’s a growing city. It’s a very family-oriented restaurant, and we thought that location was a really good fit.”
This will be the third Village Inn franchise in Hampton Roads. The other two franchise locations are at Virginia Beach Town Center, and across from the Cahoon Plantation Golf Course in Chesapeake.
