Proud to be an American

To the editor:

What a shame that 66 Democrats are staying away from President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration.

I did not vote for President Obama , but I accepted that he was to become the next president of the United States and hoped that he would do right for our nation, and I respected him for the job he was taking, even if I disagreed.

To those who said they were leaving the USA if Trump were elected, go now. Like it or not, it is what it is.

To other nations, we really look stupid by not uniting as a nation.

Give Trump a chance. He may surprise you. Many people did not like President Obama, but he was chosen, and no one could change it.

He did some really good things while in office. He also did things people did not like.

There are so many rumors that Obamacare will go away. That is not true. There are parts that will stay and new things that will be added to it.

As you all know, the price increases this year for Obamacare have doubled or more in some states. I am sure President Obama was not aware that the fees for his health care package would go up like they did. It needs to be tweaked.

The USA has always been looked at as a powerhouse, and now many countries now shake their heads at us. I, for one, would never take the job as president of the United States.

Remember, Congress does and has always blocked or denied things that the presidents have wanted to do. There should be a term limit in Congress just like the President has.

Let’s work as a united country, a great country! It takes time, and it can’t be done overnight.

Don’t believe all the rumors you hear. There are haters that will always hate, whether it is a Republican or Democrat. If you think you can live in another country, and life will be better for you, go now. There are many immigrants legally waiting to move here and become citizens of the USA, just like our forefathers did.
I am proud to be an American.
