Following are this week’s nominees for the Duke Automotive-Suffolk News-Herald Player of the Week:

Syaira Richardson, senior for Nansemond River High School track: Richardson placed first in her heat and third overall in the Virginia Showcase at Liberty University with a time of 38.84 in the Invitational 300-meter dash.

James Hatton, junior for King’s Fork High School basketball: Hatton helped his team to two victories against Churchland and Deep Creek by scoring 16 points against Churchland and 17 points with seven rebounds seven assists and four steals against Deep Creek.
