The December meeting of the Isle of Wight Chamber of Commerce Student Leadership Institute featured a field trip to Christopher Newport University, where students studied the influence that teamwork and cooperation have on those in leadership positions.
The day began with activities focused on collaboration and communication, including one requiring the future leaders to transport their entire team through a six-foot tall “spider web” without touching it.
Later in the day, the class studied the impact of each individual’s values on the functionality and success of a group.
Students also learned about the reality of sexual assault on college campuses and what can be done to stop it through the Fear 2 Freedom Program created by Rosemary Trible, the wife of Paul Trible, president of CNU.
They also received information about the courses and amenities offered at CNU.
