The Nansemond River Pilot Club will hold its first New Year’s Eve Bash this year to help Suffolk folks ring in 2017.
The event will be a fundraiser for the club’s community service projects, fundraising chairman Becky Adams said.
“There’s really no events in Suffolk on New Year’s Eve, so we’re hoping this is going to be a hit and we’ll roll with it every year,” Adams said.
The event will take place at the Hilton Garden Inn Suffolk Riverfront, 100 E. Constance Road, beginning at 8 p.m. on New Year’s Eve. It will last until 1 a.m. and include a full buffet, cash bar, DJ and dancing, a champagne toast at midnight and party favors. The hotel is offering rooms at a discounted rate to partygoers.
She said the club wanted to have an event for the community and to support the club’s projects.
“It’s promoting the city of Suffolk and the Hilton,” Adams said. “It keeps people in the area rather than having to go outside of the area and find something to do.
“We’re hoping this will draw people in,” she added.
Tickets are $50 each and can be purchased at Suffolk Insurance, 202 Market St., or the Suffolk Visitor Center, 524 N. Main St.
The deadline to purchase tickets is Dec. 30.
