Still time to enter light contest

Christmas may be less than a week away, but there’s still plenty of time to enter the Cross Realty Christmas light contest.
“The sooner they get in, the more time they’ll have to get votes,” said Lee Cross of Cross Realty. “We’re always happy to have more.”
About eight entries have been received so far for the contest, which is the second annual one by Cross Realty.
There are two different awards: one for the photo with the most Facebook “likes,” and a judges’ choice prize. The home with the most likes by Jan. 2 will receive $250 toward their power bill. The judges — Cross’s daughters — will choose the home that receives the judges’ choice award, a $150 prize toward their power bill. The Cross youngsters are ages 6, 4 and 20 months.
Homes in Suffolk, Isle of Wight County and Southampton County are eligible. The contest is co-sponsored by the Suffolk News-Herald.
People can enter by sending a photo or video of their Christmas light display via private message on the Facebook page, facebook.com/CrossRealty. The photo will be posted on the Cross Realty Facebook page. Names, addresses and contact information are required with entry, so that the judges can judge and winners can be contacted, but that information will not be displayed on the Facebook page.
Voting will take place until Jan. 2, but the sooner, the better to get entries in.
“We think it will continue to build momentum as we go,” Cross said. “We have fun with it, so we hope it keeps up.”
