Cynthia D. Lankford

Cynthia D. Lankford, 61, of North Fourth Street, Suffolk, transitioned on Friday, Nov. 4, 2016, at Sentara Hospice House, Virginia Beach. She was a native of Suffolk and the daughter of the late Solomon Darden Sr. and Vivian Darden. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Lankford; one sister, Norma Jean Sanford; and one brother, Solomon Darden Jr.

She attended John F. Kennedy High School. Cynthia was a faithful usher for many years at New Mt. Joy Food for Living Ministries under the leadership of the late Bishop Wiggins. She was a member of Forever Free Outreach Ministry at Gates of Heaven C.O.G.I.C. She was employed as a CNA for many years. She was also a bell ringer for the Salvation Army.

She leaves to cherish her memory three daughters, Tunisia Nichols (Glenn), of Hampton, Jacinta Lewter (Zann), Jamie Darden (Larry Outlaw), both of Suffolk; grandchildren, Davon Darden (Marc), Jaime (LJ), Adriana, Bradford Knight (Jessica), Yolanda, Zann; great-grand, Giani Darden; godmother, Gracie Cotton; and devoted friends, Brenda Kindred, Edna Goodman and Susie Bailey.

A memorial service will be held at noon, Saturday, Nov. 19, 2016, in the Melvin J. Blowe Chapel of Crocker Funeral Home officiated by Pastor Ralph L. Slaughter of Suffolk Christian Fellowship Ministry. Cremains will rest in Carver Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends at 1104 Blythewood Lane, Suffolk.
