Jacqueline “Jackie” Smith Hagan, of Longmont, Colo., a native of Suffolk, passed away on Nov. 5, 2016. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, John M. Hagan Jr.; her daughter, Dawn Hagan and husband, Scott MacLaren, of Lyons, Colo.; her son, John M. Hagan III and wife, Becky, of Georgetown, Maine; and her granddaughter, Ariel Hagan Elwell and husband, Matt, of South Portland, Maine.
Jackie was a daughter of the Commonwealth of Virginia. She attended Westhampton College and lived with her family in Suffolk, Franklin and Portsmouth most of her life. She was a wife, a mother, a Master Gardener, an artist, and a student and scholar of many subjects. She loved dogs, and her canine friends never failed to put a smile on her face. She had a natural gift for connecting with others, and her Southern roots and hospitality always shone through.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Suffolk. Memorial donations may be made to Walter Cecil Rawls Library, 22511 Main St., Courtland, VA 23837. Condolences may be registered at ahlbergfuneralchapel.com.
