‘No foul play’ in remains

Police believe no foul play was involved in the discovery Tuesday of unsecured skeletal remains in a North Suffolk cemetery.
“There is no reason to believe that the remains weren’t interred there at some point in time given the age of the cemetery,” city spokeswoman Diana Klink wrote in an email.
The remains, which were not in a vault, were discovered at 2:54 p.m. Tuesday at the Macedonia Baptist Church cemetery in the 8300 block of Crittenden Road.
Graves date back as far as a century or more in some areas of the cemetery. Construction has been ongoing to mitigate erosion at the site.
