Raymond Siterson Bunch

Raymond Siterson Bunch, 100, of Lynchburg, widower of Frances Rountree Bunch, passed away Friday, Oct. 14, 2016. Born in Edenton, N.C., Nov. 17, 1915, he was a son of the late Clarence and Ophelia Williams Bunch. Raymond was retired from General Electric and was a member of Timberlake United Methodist Church.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Glenn S. Bunch; a daughter-in-law, Bettie Winslow Bunch; a grandson, Craig Bunch; two granddaughters, Vickie Bunch and Tammy Cooper Green; a son-in-law, Jerry Cooper; five brothers, Oscar, Vernon, Earl, William and Melvin; and two sisters, Ethel Harrell and Louise Parker.

He is survived by two daughters, Barbara Thompson (Earl), of Forest and Dorothy Cooper, of Roanoke; four grandchildren, Pamela Bunch Horsley (David), Porter Bunch McKinnon (Hull), Dwight Thompson (Nancy) and Alan Thompson (Christina); seven great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

A celebration of Raymond’s life will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016, at Heritage Funeral Service and Crematory by the Rev. Brad McMullen, after which the family will receive friends until 12:30 p.m.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 27, 2016, in Holly Lawn Cemetery, Suffolk, by Pastor Mike Harrington.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may take the form of contributions to the Forest Volunteer Fire Department, 1645 Thomas Jefferson Road, Forest, VA 24551, Timberlake United Methodist Church, 21649 Timberlake Road, Lynchburg, VA 24502, or to a charity of your choice.
