The Bob Jones University music faculty has named Abigail Brown of Suffolk to the University’s Collegiate Choir.
Brown is a sophomore majoring in history.
The Collegiate Choir is part of BJU’s graded choir program and is comprised of mostly sophomores. Auditions for the group are held at the beginning of each semester. At the end of the academic year, the singers audition for either the Concert Choir or the University Chorale, which are both comprised of upperclassmen and graduate students.
“I’m excited to have a full roster of talented singers this year,” said Mr. Fred Coleman, Collegiate Choir director and head of the department of church music at BJU. “We are eager to use choral music to articulate the Gospel and our Christian faith.”
On Wednesday, Oct. 26 at 5 p.m., the choir will sing a recital in War Memorial Chapel on the BJU campus. On Nov. 11, the choir will participate in the Upstate Intercollegiate Choral Invitational Festival on the campus of Southern Wesleyan University in Central, S.C. Additionally, the choir will perform Christmas music “mini-concerts” throughout the day on Friday, Dec. 9, at the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, N.C.
