King’s Fork High School’s golf team placed fourth as a team and had two players qualify for regionals during the Conference 17 tournament on Tuesday at Bide-A-Wee Golf Course in Portsmouth.
King’s Fork shot a team score of 425. The top two teams qualified for regionals, while six players outside of the top two teams were chosen as well.
Tyler Branch and Jacob Meece both qualified for regional tournament play.
“I am overwhelmed and overjoyed to be able able to have this opportunity to play in regionals,” Meece said.
Branch, who placed ninth, was also excited about his opportunity. Both players gave much of their credit to their coach Calvin Mitchell.
“I feel that I made great progress from the beginning of the season until now, and it paid off,” Branch said. “I couldn’t have done it without Coach.”
Regionals will be held at Stonehouse Golf Course in Toano on Oct. 3.
