A crew from Dominion Virginia Power cleans up a downed power pole that was struck by a tractor-trailer on North Main Street on Friday morning.

The 700 block of North Main Street was closed for about an hour Friday morning after a crash.

A tractor-trailer driver struck and downed a power pole just before 11 a.m. He was attempting to make a U-turn after realizing he couldn’t drive south on North Main Street, according to a city press release.

There were no injuries.

The road was closed in both directions immediately following the accident, due to the pole and electrical lines across the roadway, according to the release. Officers then began directing southbound traffic through a parking lot to get around the area.

Crews from Dominion Virginia Power responded to the scene, and police officers were directing traffic at the intersection of North Main Street and Constance Road. The road reopened about 12:03 p.m.

The driver, Sam Diphibane, of Kearns, Utah, was charged with reckless driving and failure to obey a traffic sign.
