Then plan to attend the annual Taste of Suffolk Downtown Street Festival from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 10.

The Taste of Suffolk is in its 10th year.

The festival will stretch along Main Street from Finney Avenue to Washington Street, which will be closed from Commerce Street to Saratoga Street.

The Taste of Suffolk will feature some of Suffolk’s best eateries offering a limited menu of their best cuisine offerings.

Participating restaurants will include Suffolk BBQ, Al Forno, Planter’s Peanut Store, Derl’z, Plaid Turnip, East Coast Taco, Baron’s Pub, Harper’s Table, Un’Corkd, Rajput, Totoy’s Filipino Store, Plaza Azteca, That Good BBQ, Bog D’s Shaved Ice, Mosaic’s and the new restaurant at the Suffolk Executive Airport, the Cock Pit.

These restaurants will offer their items at minimal pricing, allowing folks to try food from some of Suffolk’s best eateries.

Merchandise vendors will be on site displaying a variety of goods and services featuring everything from home improvement items to handmade fabric pieces to decorative items.

The Suffolk Master Gardeners will host live plant sales. There will also be a new car exhibition with local Suffolk dealerships. Washington Street will host the Children’s Area, featuring bounce houses, crafts, face painting, amusements and more for children of all ages.

A petting zoo will be located at the Obici-Oderzo Fountain area beside the Mills Godwin Courthouse from noon to 3 p.m.

This year’s festival will feature live musical entertainment on the Main Street stage beginning at 11 a.m. Wesley Spanger will take the stage at 12:30 p.m., and the Joe Gosman Band will perform at 3 p.m.

The Market Street Stage will host the Buffalo Wild Wings Wing Eating contests for adults, which will be held throughout the day. Interested contestants can sign up on the day of the event at the contest tent. Also new this year is a showcase featuring craft brews from local and statewide breweries.

Free parking is available in the Cherry Street parking lot located off of Saratoga Street, the Saratoga Street parking lot, First Baptist parking lot, Godwin Courts Building parking lot, Market Park parking lot and the Prentis Street parking lot. There is no shuttle service for this event.

Taste of Suffolk is hosted by Suffolk Parks and Recreation and sponsored by the Suffolk Economic Development Authority, Blair Brothers and TowneBank.
