Vaughn named president of VAFP

Dr. Lindsey D. Vaughn of Suffolk was installed as president of the Virginia Academy of Family Physicians during the organization’s annual meeting, held July 21-24 in Virginia Beach.

Vaughn previously served as president-elect of the academy. During his year as president, Vaughn will also serve on the executive committee.

Vaughn is from Rocky Mount, Va., and trained at Eastern Virginia Medical School and the Medical College of Virginia. He has practiced in Suffolk for the past 24 years and is currently an associate medical director with Sentara Medical Group.

The Virginia Academy of Family Physicians is the largest medical specialty society in the commonwealth, with a membership of more than 3,000 family physicians, family medicine residents and medical students.

The VAFP’s mission is to empower its members to be personal physicians who ensure accessible health care and dedicate themselves to ensuring the dignity and wellbeing of the citizens of Virginia, guided by the principle that the family physician is the specialist of choice for lifelong care.
