Thelma Lee Miller-Brown

Thelma Lee Miller-Brown, 91, affectionately known as “Ma,” entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, July 5, 2016. She was born on Dec. 26, 1924, to the late Hatcher Eley and Tula Lee Miller. She was the widow of the late Johnny Brown.

She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior at an early age at St. Mark African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church. She was a former member of the senior choir, lay council, stewardess board and the Home and Overseas Missionary Society. She was a faithful delegate for many years.

She retired as a domestic worker after 70 years.

She leaves to cherish her memory, one daughter, Ada Marie Miller; two grandsons, Kenneth Miller (Mellanice) and DeShawn Reed; grandchildren, Thelma Miller Greenidge (Bruce), Lavonda W. Mann and Aja Reed; great-grandchildren, Gabrielle Miller, Madison Miller, Justin Miller and Jamie Greenidge; one niece, Belvie M. Jones (William); one great-niece, the Rev. Sharon Y. Jones; two great-nephews, William E. Jones Jr. and the Rev. Quincy G. Jones (Mary); one great-great-niece, Tamarind Jones; a special cousin, Bishop Madison Copeland; and a host of other family and friends.

Ms. Brown’s visitation will take place from noon to 7 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. A home going service will take place at 1 p.m. on Sunday at St. Mark A.M.E. Zion Church, and she will be laid to rest at Carver Memorial Cemetery.
