Fannie Mae Cheeks

Fannie Mae Cheeks, 88, passed away on May 18, 2016. She was born in Halifax, N.C. She was the daughter of the late Lon Ausby and Maude Cromwell.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Herbert Tenzy Cheeks Sr. She retired as a machine operator at Planters after 38 years of service.

Fannie Mae is survived by five children, Herbert T. Cheeks Jr. (Eva Jean), Audrey Hudgins, Gerald Bryant, all of Suffolk, Myrenia Majette, of Chesapeake, and Debora Larson, of Virginia Beach; 19 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.

Ms. Cheeks’ visitation will take place from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday, May 22, 2016, at the funeral home. A funeral service will take place noon on Monday, May 23, 2016, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 1351 White Marsh Road, Suffolk.
