The U.S. Marshals Service captured a Suffolk homicide suspect in Atlanta on Thursday.
Karlton Lamond Boone Jr., 18, was wanted in connection with the death of 42-year-old Anthony Watford. Watford’s body was found in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in the 800 block of Dill Road/Old Dill Road on March 1.
Police named Boone as a suspect on March 4. He was indicted by the grand jury March 28.
“The U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force was asked to take over the fugitive investigation and find Boone, and immediately began working to find the wanted homicide fugitive,” according to a press release from the Marshals. “After following up on numerous investigative leads, it appeared Boone had possibly fled Hampton Roads.”
Throughout their month-long investigation, the Marshals were able to figure out where Boone was. Around 10:30 a.m. Thursday, the U.S. Marshals-led Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force took Boone into custody without incident at an apartment located at 765 McDaniel St. SW in Atlanta.
Boone will be held at the Fulton County Jail awaiting return to Virginia, according to the press release. He is charged with first-degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, shoot, stab, cut or wound and possession of firearm by a convicted felon.
