Police are investigating a purse snatching that took place Monday afternoon and are asking for the public’s assistance.
According to a city press release, a 79-year-old woman was shopping with her daughter at Kohl’s in the 6200 block of College Drive. As they exited the store about 2:14 p.m. and approached the car, a black male snatched the woman’s purse and caused her to fall to the ground, suffering injuries.
The subject was described as 5 feet, 8 inches tall, with a medium build and wearing a white T-shirt. Witnesses said the subject got into a tan, four-door vehicle, possibly an older-model Toyota Camry, which then sped away and exited the shopping center through the College Drive exit.
City spokeswoman Diana Klink noted that the subject can be seen standing in front of the store window prior to the incident.
The victim was taken to Bon Secours Health Center at Harbour View for treatment of her injuries.
