A flurry of planned exercise classes at Suffolk recreation centers will help those who have made a resolution to get fit, exercise more or lose weight keep their promises to themselves.

“We do try to come up with plenty of opportunities in January,” said Parks and Recreation’s Recreation Manager Mike Frickanisce. “Our attending picks up in January, whether it’s people returning that are current members or new members.”

Frickanisce said the aim is to provide appealing options for everyone.

“We try to give people plenty of different things to choose from, whether it’s a group exercise class or personal training,” he said. “Somebody will find something, hopefully.”

Frickanisce said many popular classes are returning to both the East Suffolk Recreation Center and the Whaleyville Community Center, such as the boot camp, Zumba and a weightlifting program for women.

In addition to the classes, both centers have a fitness center with cardio and weight equipment and fitness specialists who are ready and waiting to answer questions about how to reach your new fitness goal.

Below are the details of some of the upcoming classes.
