Driver hospitalized after crash

A man was sent to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital after a single-vehicle crash early Sunday.
Suffolk Police and Suffolk Fire & Rescue responded to the accident on westbound Route 58 near the Virginia Department of Transportation Weigh Station after the crash was reported at 3:33 a.m.
The Nissan Xterra left the roadway and struck a jersey wall, with the driver of the vehicle being ejected from the vehicle, according to a city press release. The male driver suffered injuries considered life-threatening and was ground transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. There were no other occupants of the vehicle.
The middle lane and right lane of westbound Route 58 were closed while police investigated and cleaned up the accident.
The accident remains under investigation.
