O’Neil Stagg-Blount

O’Neil Stagg-Blount, 72, was born on Nov. 7, 1943, in Suffolk, to the late Joe Stagg and Florine Wright-Stagg. She departed this life on Monday, Nov. 23, 2015, at her residence.
O’neil was united in holy matrimony on June 1, 1965, to Walter Lee Blount. This union was blessed with two children, Walter Lee Blount Jr. (Toni), of White Plains, Md., and Tara Nicole Blount Alexander (Wayne), of Bowie, Md. Other survivors include five grandchildren, Sierra C. Brown Blount, Sterling L.T. Blount, Desire T.L. Blount, Dymond T.L. Blount and Shamir L.T. Blount; one brother, L.T. Stagg (Elnora), of Portsmouth; three sisters, Rosa M. Boone, of Suffolk, Doretha Beamon, of Suffolk, and Lestine Stagg, of New York, N.Y.; an uncle, James Stagg, of Suffolk; two aunts, Ruth Hairston, of Lexington, N.C., and Berthe Mae Powell, of Suffolk; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
After more than 20 years of worldwide travel with her military husband, she returned to live in Suffolk in 1988 and renewed her membership in her home church, Oak Grove Baptist Church (Each One Reach One Ministries), where she served faithfully and diligently.
Mrs. Blount’s visitation will take place from noon to 7 p.m., and the family will receive guests from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 27, at the funeral home. A celebration of life service will take place at noon on Saturday, Nov. 28, 2015, at Oak Grove Baptist Church, and she will be laid to rest at Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery.
