A Suffolk man has been indicted on three charges after an altercation at a 7-Eleven store earlier this month.
Rakeem Mowet Scott, 23, will stand trial on Feb. 18 on several charges including aggravated malicious wounding, use of a firearm in commission of a felony and shoot, stab, cut or wound.
Officers were dispatched to the convenience store in the 1100 block of Portsmouth Boulevard on Oct. 4 in reference to an assault and a discharge of a firearm, city spokeswoman Diana Klink said at the time.
Investigators determined a verbal argument between the victim and the suspect escalated and became physical, Klink said. The victim was struck with a pistol, and the firearm discharged during the event, Klink said. The victim’s injuries were treated at Sentara Obici Hospital.
