U.S. Army Private 2nd Class William Goodman recently was named “Hero of the Week” from the 6th Military Police Company (Airborne), 503rd Military Police Battalion (Airborne) after assisting an elderly man who suffered a medical emergency.
Goodman was shopping during his off time at the North Post PX when he saw the gentleman lying on the floor and shaking near the entrance, according to a press release.
Goodman asked the man if he was OK and helped him up. Even though the man said he was fine, Goodman followed him inside and observed his actions.
The man then suffered another episode, passed out and fell face first onto the floor while in the store, causing a large gash to his eye.
Goodman immediately went to his aid, called emergency services and treated the man for shock until medical services arrived.
“Goodman demonstrated the finest traditions of the Military Police Corps and reflects great credit upon himself and the 65th Military Police Company (Airborne),” according to the press release.
