Cancer survivors honored

The Suffolk News-Herald will publish a special Breast Cancer Awareness feature on Oct. 28, and breast cancer survivors are invited to be honored at no charge in this special section.
The newspaper will donate 10 percent of the proceeds from sponsors of the section to the American Cancer Society.
“The Suffolk News-Herald, on an ongoing basis, makes a concerted effort to cover issues related to fighting cancer, and we take a lot of pride in that,” Publisher John Carr said. “We’re hoping to find cancer survivors that are willing to share a little bit about their struggle. We know we have a community that will rally around them and support them.”
The special section will be printed Oct. 28, but survivors who wish to be honored should email or bring in their photo, name and number of years they have been a survivor by Oct. 21.
“We want to remind everyone this is a winnable fight,” Carr said. “Hopefully, they will get hope and strength from it.”
Carr thanked sponsors of the section for their support.
“We want to thank all of those sponsors for supporting us and supporting survivors in the fight against breast cancer,” he said.
Photos and information should be brought to the newspaper’s office at 130 S. Saratoga St. or emailed to news@suffolknewsherald.com.
