Sugar fuels Liberty in playoffs

Former King’s Fork High School basketball star Sugar Rodgers helped the New York Liberty advance past the Washington Mystics in the WNBA’s Eastern Conference semifinals on Tuesday evening at Madison Square Garden.
Rodgers came off the bench and contributed 20 points to New York’s 79-74 victory in the winner-take-all third game of the series. Her teammate, Tina Charles, led all scorers in the game with 22 points.
On Sunday in Washington, D.C., Rodgers helped her team keep its season alive by coming off the bench and scoring 15 points, the second-highest total on her team. The Liberty won that game 86-68.
The Indiana Fever won its Eastern Conference semifinals series 2-1 against the Chicago Sky on Monday.
New York will host Indiana in the first game of the Eastern Conference Finals on Wednesday at 7 p.m. The game will be broadcast on ESPN2.
