Helen S. Bell, 69, of 511 S. Main St., Suffolk, transitioned into eternal rest on Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2015, at Sentara Obici Hospital. She was the daughter of Fannie Mae and the late Reuben Stephenson Sr. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Bell Sr.; son, Robert L. Bell Jr.; grandson, Michael A. Bell Jr.; and sister, Mazie Stephenson.
She retired from Suffolk City Schools as a custodian.
She leaves to cherish her memory, daughters, Vera Bell (George Cross), Arlisa Powell (Willie); sons, James Bell (Sonya), Michael Bell Sr. (Tamika); and devoted companion, Benjamin Stephenson.
She is survived by her siblings, Eugene Stephenson, Bernita Harris, Morris Stephenson (Martha), Rudolph Stephenson (Pam) and Reuben Stephenson Jr. (Patricia). She is survived by her in-laws, James Bell Sr. (Dora), Barbara Boone, Anna Kindred (Nathaniel) and Eva Goodman.
She loved dearly her special angels, Christopher B. Rodgers, Eric D. Bell, Robert L. Bell III, Nikolas X. Powell, Destinee A. Bell, Mariyah A. Bell, Jeremiah C. Bell and Christopher Z. Rodgers. She also leaves to cherish her memory 15 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 21, 2015, at Tabernacle Christian Church with Bishop Madison Copeland, eulogist and Bishop Carlton Upton, pastor.
