Robbery investigated

Suffolk police are investigating an armed robbery that took place at a convenience store early Thursday.
The robbery happened at the Kangaroo in the 800 block of West Washington Street about 4:29 a.m., according to a city press release.
An employee said the robber entered the store, implied he had a weapon and demanded money and cigarettes. After receiving cigarettes and an undisclosed amount of currency, he fled the premises on foot.
No one was injured, according to the press release.
The robber is described as a black male in his late 20s to early 30s, 6 feet, 2 inches tall, with a thin build, goatee, and wearing a yellow shirt, denim jacket and jeans and a black logo ball cap. He was also carrying a backpack.
The same person had also entered the business about 3 a.m. and was wearing a plaid shirt and the same ball cap, according to the press release.
