Police are investigating a home invasion and assault that took place late Friday.

The victim reported that two adult black males forced entry into his residence in the 8800 block of Gates Road about 11 p.m. Friday, city spokeswoman Diana Klink said.

The suspects forced the victim from the residence at gunpoint and assaulted him in the yard of the residence, Klink said. They then fled to a vehicle that was parked on the side of the road.

The man was transported to Southampton Memorial Hospital and then airlifted to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital for injuries not considered life-threatening, Klink said.
