Today I share a few of my favorite lighthearted quotations from Hollywood.

Henny Youngman: “My dad was the town drunk. Usually, that’s not so bad, but New York City?”

Rita Rudner: “My grandmother was a very tough woman. She buried three husbands. Two of them were just napping.”

Buddy Hackett: “As a child, my family’s menu consisted of two choices — take it or leave it.”

Judy Gold: “We never talked, my family. We communicated by putting Ann Landers articles on the refrigerator.”

My favorite, from Lewis Grizzard: “I come from a big family. I never got to sleep alone until I was married.”

And my second favorite, from Cary Grant: “Everybody wants to be Cary Grant. Even I want to be Cary Grant.”

A similar thought from another great movie star — Joan Crawford: “I never go out unless I look like Joan Crawford, the movie star. If you want to see the girl next door, go next door.”

Winding things up with this interesting quote from Albert Einstein: “I think and think for months and years. Ninety-nine times the conclusion is false. The hundredth time, I am right.”

And, finally, this quote from Frank Roberts: “I think and think for months and years. Ninety-nine times the conclusion is false. The hundredth time, I am still wrong.”

During a 60-year career spanning newspapers, radio and television, Frank Roberts has been there and done that. Today, he’s doing it in retirement from North Carolina, but he continues to keep an eye set on Suffolk and an ear cocked on country music. Email him at froberts73@embarqmail.com.
