Chowan graduates 184

Chowan University saw 184 seniors walk across the commencement stage on May 9 in the Helms Center on the historic campus. Six Master of Education degrees were awarded the same day.
The following local students graduated:
- Mallori Boyce, of Suffolk, graduated Magna Cum Laude and on the Dean’s List with a Bachelor of Science degree in graphic communications. Boyce was an Alpha Chi Scholar.
- Shanna Daniel, of Suffolk, graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in history.
- Janice Ellis, of Suffolk, graduated Magna Cum Laude and as an Alpha Chi Scholar with a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education.
- Danielle Hemmis, of Suffolk, graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology.
- Jennifer Humphrey, of Suffolk, graduated Summa Cum Laude as an Alpha Chi Scholar in the Honors College Program on the President’s List with a Bachelor of Science degree in history. Humphrey was featured in Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges and was the recipient of this year’s Student Ambassador Award, the Charles L. Paul History Award, the “Ethics in Action” Award and the Best All Around Student Award and was inducted into the prestigious Order of the Silver Feather.
- Courtney Klages, of Suffolk, graduated as a Leadership Scholar and on the President’s List with a Bachelor of Science degree in social studies education.
- Sandra Lopez, of Suffolk, graduated Cum Laude and on the President’s List with a Bachelor of Science degree in interdisciplinary studies.
- Clarence Russell III, of Suffolk, graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in religion.
