NAVFAC hiring 430 civilians

Naval Facilities Engineering Command Mid-Atlantic plans to hire approximately 430 new employees over the next six months for a variety of positions throughout the Hampton Roads area, according to a government press release.

The positions range from engineers and contract specialists to skilled trades such as electricians, plumbers and HVAC mechanics at a variety of bases, including Naval Station Norfolk, Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story, Naval Air Station Oceana, Norfolk Naval Shipyard and Naval Weapons Station Yorktown.

“We have many vacancies throughout our area of operations that we are actively recruiting for this fiscal year,” said Rick Roth, NAVFAC Mid-Atlantic business director.

“This hiring effort is critical to our ability to execute our workload in support of the Navy and Marine Corps mission over the next few years and is a top priority.”

NAVFAC Mid-Atlantic provides facilities engineering, public works and environmental products and services across an area of responsibility that spans from North Carolina to Maine and westward to Illinois and Indiana.

The NAVFAC Mid-Atlantic team consists of more than 3,600 employees, with nearly 2,000 of them in the Hampton Roads area.

Positions to be filled include architects, mechanical engineers, civil engineers, electrical engineers, environmental engineers, fire protection engineers, contract specialists, physical scientists, information technology specialists, realty specialists, engineering technicians, HVAC mechanics, motor vehicle operators, boiler plant operators, machinists, automotive and heavy equipment mechanics, low- and high-voltage electricians, plumbers/pipefitters, carpenters, crane riggers and operators and a variety of administrative positions.
