Bernard Lee Perry, 62, of 609 Adams St., Suffolk, died Thursday, May 14, 2015, at Sentara Obici Hospital. He was a native of Suffolk and the son of the late Pernell Perry Sr. and Nettie Westbrook Lawrence.

He was a 1971 graduate of Suffolk High School. He attended Virginia State University and Norfolk State University. He was a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity. Bernard was a former employee of Planters Peanut Company and Newport News Shipyard. He was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church.

Bernard leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Dora Knight Perry; stepdaughter, De’Asia Moody; stepson, Michael Knight; sister, Anna Jones Lipscomb (Eddie); brother, Pernell Perry Jr.; two stepgrandchildren; two nieces, Tarsha Perry and Carlette Hawkins; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.

A funeral service will be held at noon, Wednesday, May 20, 2015, at Oak Grove Baptist Church officiated by Dr. Anthony Copeland. Interment will be in Morning Star Church Cemetery, Capron.
