Man hurt in crash on 58

One man was seriously injured in an early morning crash on Route 58, according to a city news release.
Suffolk Police and Suffolk Fire & Rescue responded at 2:09 a.m. Tuesday to the single vehicle accident on Route 58 eastbound just west of the landfill.
The accident involved a Toyota Corolla. The male driver, age 22, had to be extricated from the vehicle by Suffolk Fire & Rescue and EMS personnel and was flown via Nightingale to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with what are believed to be life-threatening injuries.
A portion of the roadway was closed for several hours. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
