A Norfolk man was issued a summons for following too closely after police say it resulted in his tanker truck getting stuck in the median of Route 58 on Thursday afternoon.
Maurice A. Majette, 41, was driving the tanker westbound on the Route 58 bypass near the Godwin Boulevard exit when it ran into the median about 3:50 p.m.
One lane in each direction was closed throughout the afternoon and evening until the fuel in the tanker could be pumped into another tanker that arrived on scene. The first tanker was then towed from the median.
Suffolk Fire and Rescue crews remained on scene during the incident. All affected lanes reopened at 9:47 p.m., according to a city press release.
