SNH ‘a welcome addition to my day’

To the editor:

I grew up at a time and in a community where the delivery of the local newspaper was a welcome event.

It was then that we learned what was happening in our local community and what our neighbors were up to. From bake sales to the obituaries, we learned the happy and the sad and understood what really made up the fabric of our community.

These days, when you can drill down to the individual level so quickly with social media, it is still a welcome part of my day to read the Suffolk News-Herald and cherish that same feeling that there is a source weaving together the various strands that make up the fabric of our community. You can’t get that same sense with most of the various forms of national and social media.

So even though the editors and reporters have to select what to publish, it is still a welcome addition to my day and a valuable asset to our community to have a local newspaper.
