Apartments would protect the river

To the editor:

I hope the city of Suffolk makes the sensible decision to allow development on the former Obici site on Main Street.

Apartments would provide a spark to an area that has been an abandoned eyesore for too many years. They would help attract young people to Suffolk and continue a revitalization of the city. These young folks are the future of Suffolk, and city planners understand affordable housing is the key to creating a vibrant future for our town.

Finally, the apartments would preserve the beautiful Nansemond River by blocking any future development along this section of the waterfront, ensuring future generations can enjoy the river.

It’s the right development for Suffolk, our future and the environment.
