A Suffolk man has been charged in a stabbing incident that took place Friday night.

Vernon Lee Brown, 53, is charged with malicious wounding and shoot, stab, cut or wound, according to a press release.

Emergency dispatchers received a call about the incident at 9:53 p.m., according to the release. It happened in the 1000 block of Railroad Avenue.

The 51-year-old male victim, also from Suffolk, was transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital by ground ambulance. He was listed in stable condition on Saturday morning.

The suspect and victim know each other, according to the press release. The incident remains under investigation.
