Depending on weather conditions, Isle of Wight officials had hoped to resume their search of the James River on Tuesday for a missing boater.
According to Lisa Martin, spokeswoman for the Isle of Wight County Sheriff’s Office, William Johnson, 75, was missing after his boat capsized.
The office received a call that Johnson had left shore from the Tyler’s Beach area of Rushmere, and it is believed he was checking fishing nets, Martin stated.
The search for Johnson was suspended due to bad weather after the boat was recovered on Monday.
The Virginia Marine Resources Commission, whose spokeswoman was unavailable to provide an update late Tuesday afternoon, is leading the recovery efforts.
