Route 58 in Suffolk has claimed its second life in two days after a Norfolk man died as a result of injuries sustained when his vehicle plowed into a tow truck late Tuesday afternoon.
William Emery, 76, of Norfolk, died at Sentara General Hospital, city of Suffolk spokesman Tim Kelley reported Wednesday morning.
The tow truck had stopped near the Route 460 exit eastbound; dispatch received a call about the accident that has claimed Emery’s life at 5:34 p.m.
No other injuries were reported, and Emery was airlifted out.
Overnight on Monday, Jonathon Lee Wilson, 48, of Portsmouth, died in a single-vehicle accident after a tractor-trailer went off the road in the 5600 block of Holland Road, hitting a guardrail and coming to rest in a ditch.
After life-saving measures were performed at the scene, Wilson was ground transported to Sentara Obici Hospital, where he died.
