Colandus Jacobs

Colandus Jacobs of Hampton entered into eternal rest on Sunday, Jan. 11, 2015, at the Hampton Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Hampton.

He was born Aug. 18, 1950, to the late Willard Mayso Jacobs and Rubie Alston Jacobs. He was also predeceased by two brothers Willard Mayo Jacobs Jr. and Jerry Wesley Jacobs and two sisters, Bessie Mae Person and Ruby Mae Butler.

He attended John F. Kennedy High School until he was drafted into the United States Marines, where he served from 1969 to 1975.

He is survived by one son, Abdul Jacobs of Suffolk, and one granddaughter, Diamonds Jacobs of Suffolk. He was affectionately known as “Bro” by his surviving siblings, which include three brothers, David Jacobs and Thomas Jacobs, both of Suffolk, and Larry Jacobs (Constance) of San Antonio, Texas; four sisters, Barbara Rountree (John) of Corapeake, N.C., and Joyce Boone, Maxine Battle (Jerome) and Gloria Sharpe (Eric), all of Suffolk; and a host of family members and friends.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2015, at 10 a.m. at the Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk.
