Barbara Boothe Morris

Barbara Boothe Morris, 72, of 3624 White Marsh Road, Suffolk, died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2014, at Sentara Obici Hospital. She was a native of Gates County, N.C. and the daughter of the late Isaiah Boothe and Margaret G. Boothe. She was predeceased by her husband, Edward K. Morris Sr., and a brother, William P. Boothe.

She attended Central High School in North Carolina. She was employed for 10 years at General Electric and was a housewife. Barbara was a member of Balm of Gilead Baptist Church, where she was one of the mothers of the church, member of the senior choir and usher board.

She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Janet Morris Langston (Rufus), Barbara Vanessa Morris, of Suffolk, and a stepdaughter, Connie Jackson, of Washington, D.C.; one son, Edward K. Morris Jr. (Almeta), of Suffolk; two sisters, Mary Abernathy, of Albany, N.Y. and Brenda Knight (Daniel), of Dover, Del.; three grandchildren and three step-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Bernice Scott, the Rev. Barbara Willie (Antonio), Brenda Wade (Lee), Sarah Morris, Mabel Madison; brothers-in-law, Deacon Johnny Morris (Evangelist Nora), the Rev. William Morris (Mildred) and James Norman; other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, 2014, at Balm of Gilead Missionary Baptist Church officiated by Bishop A.S. Hall Sr. Interment will be in Balm of Gilead Church Cemetery.
