The Nansemond River High School boys’ volleyball team started off with bad serves and errors, but then recovered for a 3-1 win against visiting Heritage High School — 23-25, 25-23, 25-17, 25-18.
Warriors coach James Vann was pleased with what he saw from his players after the early problems were eliminated.
“They’re just playing together and communicating real well,” he said.
Each of the following NR players had nine kills: senior outside hitter Malcolm Nurse, senior opposite hitter Zak McCarson and junior middle blocker Keoni Broad.
Nansemond River (5-10, 5-2) hosts Phoebus High School on Thursday night, which will be Senior Night.
