Suffolk police are seeking the public’s assistance identifying the owners of a vehicle that may have been involved with extensive vandalisms early Tuesday.
Unknown suspects entered the Sleepy Hole Golf Course in the early morning hours of Tuesday, according to a city news release. They caused several thousand dollars’ worth of damage to facilities and equipment.
“It is believed that there were multiple individuals involved in this incident and that the individuals were on the property for an extended amount of time,” the news release stated.
According to a police report, the vandals broke several glass doors and flooded the floor in the snack bar area. They also took several carts from the cart barn and drove them around the course, causing damage to the carts.
The same individuals, police believe, then left the property and went to the Schooner Boulevard area, where they tossed eggs at several cars.
Police are looking for a light-colored Ford Explorer, possibly a 2006 or later model, believed to be in the area during the time the vandalism occurred.
