Last year it was a double-overtime thriller. This year, not so much.

The King’s Fork High School football team beat host Great Bridge High School in just about every way imaginable on Friday night.

The Bulldogs scored on running touchdowns, a pass completion, interception returns, a punt return and a return on a fumble recovery to trounce the Wildcats 55-19.

Junior feature back Deshaun Wethington was once again one of the Bulldogs’ most prolific offensive weapons, running 19 times for 179 yards and two touchdowns. His scores came on runs of 44 and 58 yards.

King’s Fork got on the board first in the first quarter when senior defensive back Akil Freeman grabbed an interception and returned it 42 yards for a score.

Great Bridge scored just under three minutes later, looking to tie the game, but the extra point was blocked.

The Bulldogs’ next score came when junior quarterback Ryan Kluck connected with senior wide receiver Camryn Little on a 19-yard touchdown pass.

Little also had a 66-yard punt return for a touchdown in the second quarter.

King’s Fork’s other defensive scores came from senior linebacker Tyler Brown and senior defensive back Kane Miskel.

Brown had a 10-yard interception return for a score in the second quarter and a 78-yard fumble return for a touchdown in the fourth quarter. Miskel recorded a 91-yard interception return for a score in the final period.

The Bulldogs (4-0) visit Indian River High School (2-2) next Friday night.
