Take steps for health

The way things stand right now, Suffolk, Va., could walk away with the title in a walk-off challenge between citizens here and citizens of Suffolk, England.
Challenge participants in Peanut City, USA, had logged more than 5.5 million steps as of Friday, according to Jett Johnson of the Suffolk Partnership for a Healthy Community, which is sponsoring the challenge from this side of the Atlantic.
On the other side of the pond, the folks at Healthy Ambitions, the British group that challenged us Yanks to the walk-off, have recorded “just” 3.3 million steps. That’s about 2.2 million fewer steps than their American cousins.
The challenge began Sept. 8 and is set to expire on Oct. 5. But there’s a lot of ground to cover between now and the end of the challenge, and the Brits could still step ahead as they get more people from their community involved in the challenge.
Partly in an effort to protect the honor of Suffolk, Va., but mostly from a desire to make sure the people of this fine city are as healthy as possible, the folks at the Suffolk Partnership continue to encourage participation in the good-natured challenge.

It’s a good step to take for your health.
