Back-to-school orientation at Pioneer Elementary School has been canceled for Thursday.
District spokeswoman Bethanne Bradshaw indicated it’s a move to maximize time to prepare the school for Tuesday’s first day of school.
“Classroom set-up, final floor finishing, and other details must be completed this week so students can be welcomed to a safe, clean school on Tuesday,” Bradshaw stated.
The orientation has been rescheduled for Sept. 4, from 5 to 7 p.m. It will be combined with a PTA open house that was originally set for Sept. 9.
The new school’s teachers will be calling the homes of students this week to introduce themselves and answer questions, Bradshaw stated.
