Suffolk Fire & Rescue recently took delivery of three new ambulances that will allow the department to continue its service to local residents.
The new ambulances were manufactured by Horton Emergency Vehicles in Columbus, Ohio, and feature a 2014 Ford F450 chassis, patient compartment airbag system, Stryker Power Load stretcher system, additional emergency lighting to include traffic directional bar, and LED patient compartment lighting.
These units are the first in the area to be outfitted with a Liquid Spring hydraulic ride rear suspension system.
“I am very excited about the delivery of our new ambulances, and I am most grateful for the continued support that we have received from the mayor, City Council, and city manager,” Chief Cedric Scott was quoted as saying in a press release.
“The ambulances are a valuable asset that will be used to assist us in meeting our top priority, which is providing high quality emergency services.”
The new ambulances will be placed as Medic 1 at Station 1 on Market Street, Medic 3 at Station 3 on White Marsh Road and Medic 5 at Station 5 on Bridge Road. The current medic units at those stations will be placed into reserve status.
