UPDATE: Gillespie reported to Suffolk Police headquarters on Tuesday, Aug. 5, according to city spokeswoman Diana Klink. No further information was available.
Suffolk police and other agencies spent much of Thursday searching for a man whose vehicle was found apparently crashed in a ditch on Lake Cohoon Road.
David Christopher Gillespie, 40, whose last known address was in Chesapeake, has not been seen or heard from since his four-door Buick was found about 1 a.m., according to a city news release.
The location of the crash, in the 2000 block of Lake Cohoon Road, is in a rural, wooded area, according to the press release.
Suffolk police were assisted in the search by Suffolk Fire and Rescue’s Search and Rescue Team, regional communications equipment and tracking dogs from the Hampton Police Department, according to the news release.
“There was no indication that Mr. Gillespie was still in the area,” the release stated.
Gillespie is described as a white male, 5 feet 8 inches tall, 145 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes.
